Microdermabrasion

How does Microdermabrasion work?

Microdermabrasion skin treatments exfoliate the skin, much in the same way as a loofah sponge, although through a mechanical process. The Microdermabrasion uses three specially designed, state-of-the-art subsystems: a vacuum system, a compressor and a patented hand piece with tubing interlink system. The system’s hand piece projects micro crystals onto the skin’s surface in what we call a “sandblasting” type of technique and then pulls the crystals back up into an adjoining waste canister along with any expunged skin cells. Generally you may require more than one treatment which is discussed during a complimentary consultation with a trained member of staff.

What kind of results can I expect?

Usually you will notice an immediate improvement in your skin’s texture and appearance. Acne scars will become more defined depending on the number of treatments. Patients report that their skin looks softer, smoother and younger looking.

Can I go to work afterwards?

Yes, most patients experience only minor flushing and there is no anaesthesia required. We do ask that you refrain from using make-up on the day of your treatment to give the skin a chance to breath and regenerate itself. Exercise is not recommended for 24 hours post procedure as perspiration contains salt which can cause a stinging sensation.

How soon will I see the results?

After your first treatment your skin will have a fresh, pink glow to it. Improvement will continue throughout the treatment program. The number of treatments to achieve maximum results ranges from two to twelve treatments depending on the type of skin problem. The results are amazing especially for improvement in cystic acne.

How often can I receive treatments?

A course of Microdermabrasion is recommended i.e. One treatment every week for six weeks. This is followed by a maintenance program, whereby a treatment is recommended every 4-6 weeks.

How long are the treatments?

Treatments usually take about 40 minutes depending on the size and depth of the affected area.  We also offer a Delux Microdermabrasion which takes one hour.

What are the benefits of Microdermabrasion over other procedures?

Microdermabrasion takes less time to do, there is little discomfort and recovery time is relatively quick with no disruption to normal activities. Microdermabrasion is suitable for all skin types. It is a Chemical free treatment.

Who are the best candidates for Microdermabrasion treatments?

The best candidates are men and women who have good skin tone, good health, and realistic expectations. Including pregnant women.

What products should I be using?

The right products for your skin are essential otherwise you could be reversing the good we are doing for you through Microdermabrasion. Dr Hill and staff highly recommend that you follow the program that we advise, results are more significant for those clients that follow the program. We recommend both AHA and Vitamin C serums, which further help to keep skin surface clear. Dr Hill has developed her own range of skin care products.  Microcurrent

Microcurrent

Non-Surgical Facelift and Fat Loss

Already mainstream in Europe, Microcurrent Cosmetics will be in mass demand in Australia within 1-2 years. Hollywood celebrities are already embracing it due to its remarkable results, which are achieved without invasive methods and are free of pain, downtime, or harmful side effects.

Microcurrent Therapy involves the safe delivery of Microcurrent into the face and body through specially designed conducting wands that are applied at specific areas using specific techniques. The experience is wonderfully relaxing and euphoric, causes no pain or swelling, and noticeable results begin immediately.

Microcurrent is the closest known electrical current that can be delivered on a nearly identical level as the electrical current the human body naturally produces. Microcurrent has been used in the medical field for over 60 years and is safe and free of harmful side effects. Microcurrent is so moderate that it would take nearly 1 million of our devices to light up a 40-watt light bulb.

Anti-aging is the fastest growing consumer market in the United States, while body aesthetics are the most popular segment of the wellness industry altogether. Among this dynamic growth we are seeing a trend towards consumers demanding less invasive and less risky treatments more than ever before.

Pain Relief and Healing

What is Microcurrent Stimulation?
Where as TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) is used for pain relief, because of its close proximity to our own body's current, is thought to work on a more cellular level to aid in the healing process. Electrical balance is disrupted when the body is injured at a particular site causing the electrical current to be disrupted and change course.

Microcurrent is a physical therapy modality providing electric current in millionths of an ampere. This Microcurrent Stimulator has the ability to relieve pain, increase the rate of wound healing, increase protein synthesis, stimulate the regeneration of injured tissue, stimulate lymphatic flow and relieve myofascial trigger points. Because microcurrent flows at one millionth of an ampere it is delivered on the same scale as the current the body produces on its own in each cell, it is therefore physiologic.

Microcurrent is subsensory and cannot be felt while it is being delivered because there is not enough current to stimulate the sensory receptors. Traditional electrotherapy units such as TENS, Interferential and Galvanic deliver current in milliamps, which a higher level of current. They can cause muscle contraction and microcurrent cannot.

Microcurrent increases ATP production by 500 %. ATP is the primary molecule from which our body produces energy, and it is found in every cell of the body, In a study done by Ngok Cheng, M.D. entitled “The Effects of Electric Current on ATP Generation, Protein Synthesis and Membrane Transport..”, it was demonstrated that ATP production increased five times with currents from 50 uA to 1000 uA. With currents exceeding 1000 uA, which is the milliamp range, ATP production leveled, and with 5000 uA ATP production was reduced slightly. Microcurrent was also shown to increase protein synthesis and amino acid transport.

Microcurrent applied to injured tissue supports the natural current flow in the tissue, allowing cells in the traumatized area to regain their capacitance, or flow of electrons. Trauma affects the electrical potential of the damaged cells. The injured area has a higher electrical resistance than the surrounding tissue. This decreases electrical conductance through the injured area, and decreases cellular capacitance, leading to impairment of the healing process and inflammation. When this microcurrent therapy is applied, resistance is reduced, allowing bioelectricity to flow through and reestablish normal function. This process helps to initiate and perpetuate the many biochemical reactions that occur in healing. In Frequency Specific Microcurrent, specific frequencies are used for varying tissues and conditions, often providing softening of the tissue and decreased pain. This softening and the pain relief that comes with it seems to be long lasting and in many cases permanent.
